The origins of the palazzo that hosts Scandinavia hotel go back deep in time. The building dates from the year 1000 and it is said that this is the very place where Desdemona met Othello, the "Moor of Venice."The palazzo was renovated in the 16th century by the Trevisan family, a wealthy merchant dynasty, that lived in it for generations.In the fifties, the Tinacci family transformed the palazzo into the hotel Scandinavia, managing to preserve the atmosphere of an ancient Venetian residence handed down through the centuries. The is one of the Venetian Hotels that most reflects the spirit of an aristocratic Venetian residence. The Hotel windows provide a stupendous view: to the building's left is the Church of Santa Maria Formosa, whose name is linked to an ancient legend. It is said that this "Campo" was the site of the apparition of a rather prosperous-looking Madonna and, to celebrate this miracle, a church was built in 1492 that was given the name of Santa Maria Formosa the Buxom
