It is only two blocks away from both Yamagata Museum and Bunshokan, a national heritage building build at the beginning of the twenty-century. In Yamagata, Yamadera is also a tourist attraction that should not be missed. The temple in a mountain is known for haiku Japanese traditional poem composed by the Haiku master, Basho, in Edo era. Zao area is also popular among tourists due to the hot springs, hiking route amid rich nature in summer and winter sports and silver frost in winter.
