This is an excellent, elegant hotel. 08/11GH The 45 luxury rooms look out across the lawns and Parkland and are in excellent condition. The decor is very elegant with ornate ceilings and large drapes over the windows. The Victorian dining room is outstanding with mahogany panneling and Grand chairs and tables. There is an open fireplace and ornate plaster work on the walls and ceiling. A variety of dishes are on offer. This is a magnificent traditional building which was built in 1867 for wealthy landowner william Hilton cooke and when purchased from him in 1867, was changed from a Georgian mansion into a small chateau, giving the house the unusual continental character which makes it so unique today.
