The Parador is located in Santiago's old quarter, in Plaza del Obradorio where some of the most outstanding monuments of the city can also be found. 1208AB The bedrooms are traditionally decorated with beautiful wooden beds, dark varnished wooden floors, heavy wooden doors and brocade curtains and bedding. The bathrooms are large and modern with complete marble furnishings. The hotel's restaurant keeps the traditional style of the hotel. One of the walls is wood panelled whilst the others are made of stone. Excellent cuisine can be enjoyed in perfect surroundings. The hotel is housed in a monumental medieval building and was constructed in 1499 by the catholic monarchs as a royal hospital. It is today thought to be the oldest hotel in the world.
